Welcome!

National Novel Writing Month
and the Chicago Region

NaNoWriMo + ChiWriMo = Awesome

And nowhere do we see this more than in the community where we live, right here in the fabulous Chicagoland.  From local librarians and entrepreneurs to individual wrimos, we are making a difference in the lives of thousands of writers.  Thank you, each and every one of you, for your support of us here at ChiWriMo and of National Novel Writing Month.  It wouldn’t be the same without you.

We’d like to take a moment and highlight the people and organizations that helped our region make November the best month of the year.

Transforming Lives Through Reading, Writing, and the Amazing Power of Used Books

Write-In location:  651 W. Lake St. | Chicago, IL 60661 | Web | Facebook | Twitter

When we lost both our primary venue and our backup venue, due to them sadly going out of business, we put out the call to our region for help.  We received many suggestions for cafes, pubs, restaurants, and libraries.  Thank you to everyone who suggested a place and offered a venue.  We are particularly grateful to Open Books, “a nonprofit social venture that provides literacy experiences for tens of thousands of readers each year through inspiring programs and the creative capitalization of books.” They opened their space to us not only for each of our ML-hosted write-ins in November, but our Kick-Off and Wrap Parties.

If you haven’t taken a moment to stop by and check out their location, you’re missing out on a treat.  It’s a huge bookstore space with exposed brick, lots of reading nooks, and an awesome, friendly staff.  We couldn’t have asked for a better place to host our events.
